Istanbul Shopping Guide

Except from grand and spice bazaars there are copper market and flea markets. Copper Smith Bazaar which is in Beyazit is smaller and lesser known than grand bazaar. It is possible to find cauldrons, saucepans, buckets, candlesticks and more. They beat the copper and produce many different shapes. Flea Markets and street markets are very common in Istanbul.
Old wooden furniture antiques and books are sold in these types of shops in Istiklal Street. In Uskudar, Kadikoy there are also many flea markets. Behind Aksaray mosque, horhor market is famous for antiques, selling rare Ottoman furniture. For arts, craft and antiques, music cassettes and books you can go to Ortakoy Entel, or Intellectual Market which is open every Sunday and always very crowded. Every Sunday in Besiktas there is a bazaar that you can buy clothes.

Sahaflar Carsisi specializes in second hand books. Except from historical bazaars there are hundreds of modern shopping centers in Istanbul. People who follow the trends of high fashion should head to the area of Nisantasi, known as the Champs Elysees of Istanbul, with Gucci, Armani, Hugo Boss and more. Bagdat Caddes on the Asian side as famous as Istiklal Street also has a good range of fashion boutiques and department stores. In the suburbs it is possible to find huge shopping malls such as Galleria in Atakoy, Metrocity and Kanyon in Levent, Akmerkez in Etiler, Forum in Bayrampasa, Profilo in Mecidiyekoy, Capacity and Carausel in Bakirkoy, Olivium in Zeytinburnu, Istinyepark in Istinye etc.
