Ramadan takes thirty days (a month) and it is an important month in the Islamic calendar and during Ramadan good Muslims do not eat between the rising and setting of the sun and they are required to fast and abstain from sexual activity during the daylight hours of Ramadan also. According to Muslim belief it was in this month that God first revealed the words of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed. Determined according to the lunar calendar Muslims celebrate Ramadan 10 days before every year. Fasting during Ramadan is considered one of the five pillars of Islam.
Muslims have big breakfast before sun rise and during all day abstain from all foods, liquids and other pleasures (like smoking, sex etc.) and when sun sets they break their fast and have dinner.
Muslims are getting ready with fasting for bad days such as food or water shortage, war etc. and they learn to help poor people because they realize how poor people feel when they are in hunger. And at the end of Ramadan Muslims celebrate Ramadan Bayram.
