Boys are born with a foreskin covering the head of the penis and circumcision is a surgical removal of the foreskin of the penis. Sunnet is religiously practiced by the followers of Islam in Turkey. The ceremony for circumcision usually takes place within the early few years of age among Muslims and it is separating the boy from childhood and introducing him to a new status. Non Muslims are also doing it because it allows the penis to remain clean from bacteria that may breed under the foreskin.
Muslims prophet Muhammed was born circumcised and attributed it natural cleanness of man so circumcision is mandatory in Turkey and among Muslims for hygienic, health reasons and religion. It is not mentioned in the Qur'an, but Muslims everywhere regard it as essential. Circumcision ceremony in Turkey celebrates with music, special foods and many guests and after removal foreskin family members and all guests give sweets, money or gold to little boy and declare him a little prince, it is a significant moment in the life of a boy.
In Islam, Sunnet is also referred as the sayings, behaviors and acts of Prophet Muhammed to be followed.
