Belly dance is the western name for the Arabic and middle-east style dances. Its origins find itself in Arabia, but also in many countries including Turkey has belly dancers on their own styles and costumes.
Belly dance is uniquely designed for the female body, with an emphasis on abdominal muscles, hip moves, and chest moves so the muscles of belly dancer abdomen are extremely well trained and able to perform amazing feats.
In Turkey today, the belly dance is very popular and it is a custom to tip the dancer directly in the form of cash placed on the dancer's body without harassing the belly dancer. At parties and festivals man are hopping up on the stage and dancing along with the belly dancers also.
Generally belly dance is performed bare footed. Belly dance costumes are usually the typical decorated bra top and belly dance skirt with belt and skirts are very brief, showing more of the dancer's body and they look sexy, playful, and flirtatious. In Turkey you can also see belly dancers who dance with snakes and swords.
