Istanbul shopping festival has a budget of 50 million dollar and takes place between 18 March and 26 April and probably it will become a yearly tradition. During festival period shops offer attractive discounts and shopping festival combines culture, entertainment and shopping. It is also known as - 40 days and nights of shopping in Istanbul -

Istanbul has over 90 glamorous and modern shopping centers. Mostly shopping malls are located in Nisantasi, Taksim, Fatih, Bakirkoy, Bahariye and Bagdat Street. The festival will center mostly on these key shopping points. Big shopping malls and traditional areas such as Grand Bazaar, Spice Market are stages of colorful events especially during festival time. Some retail chains such as Migros, Tansas and Carrefour etc will have discounts during 40 days. Beside tax free shopping alternatives up to 30 percent, discounts will be between 30-50 percent for a wide range of items such as jewelry, watches, handicrafts, textiles, electronics, perfumes, antiques etc during shopping festival. Both locals and tourists will enjoy tax free shopping as well as big discounts on all type of items.

As a cosmopolitan city, Istanbul with over 14 million population will become an entertainment centre. Street fashion shows, celebrations, competitions, concerts will arrange during 40 days and nights. Parties and also lucky draws will be organized in shops to attract shoppers. Shops will offer raffle tickets and fabulous free gifts. Shopping festival is aiming to make Istanbul a Number 1 holiday destination from visitors from all around the world. Shops will stay open till very late hours or 24 hours a day and Istanbul will deserve the title of “city that never sleeps” during festival. Many retailers will be giving more discounts after 8pm. It will never be too late to shop anywhere in Istanbul during this festival event.
 
Additional shopping opportunities and special events will make more glamorous the long shopping nights. Istanbul will transform into a shopping heaven and will be a very busy shopping destination especially for the surrounding countries. Shopping Festival aims to bring shopping and entertainment together in a non-sale season and create attraction to bring more and more tourists to Istanbul.

Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Association of Shopping Center Investors, Turkish Airlines, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, Governor’s Office of Istanbul are just a few examples for Festival Sponsors.
